They remember that he fell. They forget that he flew.
Icarus climbed higher than any man before him. Higher than reason said to go. Higher than safety permitted. He flew toward something so blinding and so absolute that the world below became small ... and for a moment, however brief, he touched the edge of what a man can reach.
Then he fell.
And for thousands of years, that fall has been told as a warning. A lesson in pride. In overreach. In what happens when a man wants too much.
But here is what the warning leaves out ... the men who never built the wings never felt that air. They lived carefully. They stayed low. They died having never once tested what they were capable of, never once pushed until something broke, never once looked down from a height that most human beings will never know.
The fall is not the tragedy. The tragedy is the man who was too afraid to climb.
